The Huron Hockey Association has fielded club hockey teams since the the early 70's. Teams range from Termites-mite all the way up to Junior Gold A and B, and include a high school age girls team.

Huron teams compete in the SDAHA league which is part of the Northern Plains district of USA HOCKEY. Huron teams also compete in many upper midwest tournaments as well as hosting home tournaments in our facility in Huron. We take pride in our facility and are known for having some of the best and fastest ice in the state. Tournament fees and motel rooms are very reasonable and our hospitality is great. Check out our tournament schedules and coordinator contacts.

Organized hockey began in 1972 on an outside rink in an open sheep barn on the state fairgrounds. In 1975 the game of hockey moved indoors (first team to do so in the state) using natural ice at 2 locations on the fairgrounds. Finally, in 1980 , Huron Hockey got its first portable refrigeration system. Also the first association to have such a system. When the fairgrounds needed the buildings that Huron Hockey occupied, a major fund drive was begun to build our own rink. In the winter of 1988 the first game was played at the new building located on 18th Street SW. The building itself was put up by a contractor but all the finishing work (boards, lockers, etc..) was completed by many hours of volunteer labor. The Huron Hockey Rink (Bergman Arena) is truly a labor of love for Huron residents.
